Lichtenberg: The quarter Berlin-Lichtenberg offers you a close proximity to the centre of Berlin (about 10 minutes) coupled with the space and calmness of the suburbs. Here you can visit a big park with animals and lakes as well as the baroque castle Friedrichsfelde featuring the style of a Dutch mansion. At the cemetery there is a socialist monument created by Mies van der Rohe in memory of the assassination of Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht. The residential area Karlshorst is known for its horse track. The museum inside the former headquarters of the Sovjet army in Germany, where the German Wehrmacht capitulated in 1945, is worth a visit as well. Furthermore you can go for a walk near the bay of Rummelsburg. From the lakeside of Lichtenberg you can enjoy a great view over the lake of Rummelsburg and the peninsula Stralau.
