Location
If you like culture and nature and want to stay in close proximity to the most famous Berlin attractions then this district is perfect for you. Tiergarten is part of the very centre of Berlin located right next to Mitte. The river Spree runs to the north of the area.

Over the last 2 centuries Tiergarten has suffered a serious multiple personality disorder due in part to the outrageous whims of various rulers during that time. Originally used as the hunting grounds of the privileged politicians up until Friedrich I, the area was transformed into the green heart of Berlin with immaculate gardens and manicured lawns. Then in the later part of the 1800 the landscaper Peter Joseph Lenné, began remodelling the Tiergarten, digging up the lawns and turning them into a proper English garden and zoo. Nowadays it is Europe’s biggest city centre park.

Tiergarten is also home to Bellevue Palace, official residence of the German President. Located on the banks of the river Spree. It’s peaceful gardens and baroque architecture make this building a favorite with the German Aristrocracy. In Tiergarten you can also visit the Reichstag and see the Bundeskanzleramt and there's lot to see in the cultural quarter, such as the Kammermusiksaal and the Musical Instruments Museum.

Metro line U9, the S-Bahn and various buses make Tiergarten easy to travel around
